Paul Reed Smith (PRS Guitars) interview guitar in hand – 2017 Winter NAMM

The Guitar Channel is a fan of the PRS brand, period. I know it's a brand that's less fashionable than it used to be. It is true that the trend of ultra-flamed tables is not so strong. Nevertheless I think it is a brand that tries to renew itself without stopping. I hope they will find the second wind they deserve. It should not be forgotten that when PRS started, the American electric guitar industry had reached a truly calamitous level of quality and that Paul reversed the trend almost by himself.

Tommy Emmanuel is an amazing Fingerpicking guitarist but he also plays very well the electric guitar who is a real phenomenon on stage. I had the opportunity to see him on stage at the New Morning in Paris (after we recorded an audio interview), he put out incredible show just him alone on stage with his guitar.
It's becoming a well-established tradition to do an interview at the NAMM with Brian Wampler, boss of the pedals of the same name. Indeed, this is the third time that this happens. Not only are the Wampler pedals of excellent quality but in addition Brian is a businessman who does not hesitate to talk about his trade in a very open way.

I met Isaac Jang for the first time in Berlin during the 2016 Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin. Isaac was born in Korea and arrived in the US when he was 13. After being an apprentice with master luthier Kathy Wingert for 9 years, he setup his own shop to build his own high-end acoustic guitars. As he proposed me when we met in Germany, I contacted him while organizing the 2017 NAMM trip to see if he would actually be my guide in Los Angeles to help me discover the guitar places in that city.

The Strat In The Attic: a fascinating book about Vintage guitar stories

There is a good chance that in one way or another you will have seen the superb cover of the book The Strat In The Attic during your wanderings in cyberspace. Indeed the book written by Deke Dickerson is illustrated by a superb image which necessarily gives rise to lots of fantasies in our minds of guitar enthusiasts. Who has never dreamed of finding a fabulous guitar forgotten in a dusty attic, at a pawnbroker or during a garage sale? .
No it is not yet another book about Vintage guitars more beautiful and more inaccessible than one another.

Here's a Maneli Jamal (www.manelijamal.com) interview done Guitar in Hand with the iranian born musician now living in Toronto after an epic and long journey. it is through Shaï Sebbag that The Guitar Channel heard about Maneli as they had met during a guitar festival in Mexico. They hit it off so well that Shaï decided to help Maneli organizing a tour in France. It was during Maneli's stay in France that we did this 30min video interview at the worldwide intergalactic headquarters of the show (meaning, my home).

Thanks to a Backstage Gear Tour, I had the pleasure to test at home the Bellwether, a delay pedal from the American boutique builder Walrus Audio (reviewed by The Guitar Channel in this article). Here's a video which will hopefully inspire you to test this pedal.

Walrus Audio Bellwether – An excellent delay pedal full of possibilities

Walrus Audio offers, with the Bellwether, a very complete analog sound delay pedal offering a delay with many possible settings. In addition to the conventional time, level and tone settings, you can activate and set a modulation and decide the subdivision in time, not to mention the tap tempo button (to determine the delay time) and the possibilities with external connections.

John Scofield was the headliner of the 2016 Festival Guitare Issoudun in France. The Guitar Channel did an intense lobbying in order to be able to organize with John a video interview using the Guitar in Hand format which works so well. In fact, with this formula the musician has his guitar plugged in and ready all the time so he can illustrate an answer with a couple of notes here and there. John sure did that and more during the close to 30min interview.
