In order to wait until the full soundseeing, here's a video teaser of the Riff Shooter pedal that Judge Fredd conceived in collaboration with JMB Experience. I only had the time to play with it for a short while but I can assure you it sounds awesome. I can't wait to get a unit to review it.

As the name Riff Shooter kind of implies, this pedal is an overdrive. The possibility to voice the sounds is pretty big yet it remains very easy to operate. The "Shoot" switch allows to turn on and off the pedal.

Backing Track – “Dorian Floyd” David Wallimann

Here's the bonus for episode #211 with David Wallimann interview : Dorian Floyd, a great free backing track to practice your Dorian mode and minor blues scale.

Yossi Sassi is a guitar player from Israël and when I listened to his album Melting Clocks I found he was able to create a very exciting mix of high powered instrumental guitar with oriental music.

David Wallimann

I found David Wallimann through his awesome YouTube channel so when I heard about his excellent book Guitar Methods Made Easy I contacted him to organize an interview. You will discover in this interview how he wrote his book, how he developed his approach of modes and many other things.

At one point or another in their learning life all the guitar players are exposed to modes without always understanding everything and above all without actually integrating all the wealth that they have in their playing, at least that was my case.

Here's one of the rare interview of Tina S. You have most likely seen recently on YouTube the video shown below where Tina (@tina_s__) covers Eruption from Eddie Van Halen. One can only be impressed by her level of virtuosity, of course I would have liked to feel more fire, more passion in her performance but no doubt this will change in the future. At 14, her technical level is pretty amazing.

Gus G

Here's some heavy rock with this Gus G interview. This guitar player from Greece not only plays with none other than Ozzy Osbourne but also fronts his own band Firewind.

I  already said several times, there is a lack of women in the guitar community so when the opportunity arises to interview a musician like Ana Popovic class, I jump at the chance.

Pedaltrain makes some excellent pedalboards (see my review of the PT-2 here), they sent me a Mini model and a Volto battery pack to review. The Volto can power up to 9 pedals and is charged either straight from a wall wart plug or from a USB connector.

As you can see it allows you to have a pedalboard without any wire attached to an outside power source which can be very useful.
Review of the Pedaltrain Volto

What I liked about

The compact format
The ability to power a full pedalboard
The integration with the Pedaltrain products

Bryan Beller interview (The Aristocrats): one of the best bass player of the moment

After Guthrie Govan in last episode, it is now the turn of Bryan Beller, also a member of the Aristocrats to answer my questions. I had already had the opportunity to interview Bryan in this episode, this time we talked about "Culture Clash" The Aristocrats 2nd studio album, his role as bassist scene behind Joe Satriani and many other things.

Extracts from "Culture Clash" played before the interview:

Cocktail Umbrellas
And Finally

As the last time we spoke via Skype, it was a lot of fun to interview Bryan who is very open about how he approaches music.

I already had the great pleasure of interviewing Guthrie Govan in this episode, I even met him during the soundcheck before their concert in Paris last year. This time we talked about the second album of this infernal trio which is The Aristocrats.

It was of course also the opportunity to talk about the evolution of the group since its inception almost by chance during a NAMM show, his conception of music and many other things.

Warning this album is intense! It is not to for everybody.

The Aristocrats - Culture Clash

In partnership with Jam Track Central, this is the original backing track of "Dance of the Aristocrats" from the album "Culture Clash" after the interview with Guthrie Govan in this episode and Bryan Beller in this one.

My first Hellfest festival

This was my first going to the Hellfest. I have been hearing about this metal festival for a long time, given the high concentration of guitar players  present, I had to cover the festival some day.

The Aristocrats - Culture Clash

As an appetizer for the interview of Guthrie Govan I will publish next month for the release of the second studio album of the Aristocrats, here's a special audio message from Guthrie himself to you :

Guthrie Govan - The Guitar Channel rocks !

Kiko Loureiro interview (@KikoLoureiro): a melodic brazilian shredder

The metal guitarists are plenty, let's face it, but those who have a wide range of expression are not that many. Kiko Loureiro is one of those, that's why I wanted to interview him for his solo album "Sounds of Innocence". It has plenty of musicality and strong melodies all over the record and, of course,  with a breathtaking technique.

Well known to play in the progressive metal band Angra, Kiko delivers with a great solo album of instrumental music.

Here're some pics taken at Patrick Querleux's workshop last time I went to check on the Frankenstrat Project guitar he is building for me.

In June, The Guitar Channel pumps up the volume!
