Guitar Summit 2018 - Video blogging - Day 2

This year again for this second edition, the German Guitar Summit in Mannheim was a great opportunity to produce a nice series of video interviews which are listed below. We highly recommend this event which proposes an excellent array of guitar exhibitors with a full program of concerts, masterclasses and conferences. 2018 Guitar Summit interviews

The Krautster II model from Nik Huber is a clearly inspired from the Les Paul. Holy Grail Guitar Show 2016 - Day 1 interviews

As for the previous two editions of the Holy Grail Guitar Show, the level of lutherie was extremely high so doing a selection among the 135 luthiers exhibiting was quite a challenge.

Nik Huber luthier chronicle - The Guitar Channel

On this new Luthier Chronicle, I asked Nik Huber the shakespearian question: to relic, or not to relic?

In this new Luthier Chronicle I asked Nik Huber what was his opinion about the Holy Grail Guitar Show which had its first edition in November 2014 in Berlin and which will happen again at the end of this month.

Nik Huber luthier chronicle - The Guitar Channel

On this new Luthier Chronicle, I asked Nik Huber a question to know if he is for or against the CNC machine. Of course he went much further than the basic answer (see the details below).

As a reminder or for your information, CNC means Computer Numerical Control (Wikipedia link). Basically in the guitar world it means that parts of an instrument are built by a machine who will carve the element from a piece of wood or metal.

On this new Luthier Chronicle, I asked Nik Huber about varnish, finish and paint.
Subjects discussed

Nitro-cellulose versus 2 component finish
His take on the thickness of the finish
Is-it possible to hear the difference between a nitro and a 2 component finish on a solid body?
The development of new colours
His source of inspiration for new ideas
The story of the new metallic finish presented at the 2015 NAMM show
The aging of the finish oh his first guitars

2014 Musikmesse special edition: 5 guitar interviews

The 2014 Musikmesse was a great edition with plenty of opportunities to meet and interview influential guitar people.

Nik Huber has a well deserved reputation amongst guitar builders. I had a blast talking to him and getting to know his work better.
