My first contact with Rodney Branigan was through this amazing YouTube video of the song “Body Language” (see below) where he can be seen playing simultaneously a guitar and a mandolin while singing! When the opportunity arised to interview him I jumped on it.
Rodney Branigan is part of this new generation of guitarists which completely revisit the field of acoustic guitar bringing a very personal approach which gives great music.
From the album “Sketches” played before the interview:
When I stumbled onto Mika Tyyskä (aka Mr Fastfinger) in Hall 4.0 of the MusiMesse, I immediately asked him to do a video interview and he accepted at once. We talked about his upcoming album “Stringweaver” to be released May 21st 2013 (listen to the extracts played before the interview).
The interview is available on YouTube (see viewer below) and in mp3 in the podcast feed.
The superb visual for “Stringweaver” :

You can also check the interview I did with him via Skype in episode #173 in 2012.
Here’s an interview I did at the MusikMesse 2013 with Mattias IA Eklundh. I met him for the first time in 2009 for an audio interview you can find in episode #38. This time we talked about his latest solo album “The Smorgasborg”, his True Temperament equiped Caparison guitars, his next projects and many more.
The video of the interview is available online on YouTube (see player below) and as an MP3 file in the podcast feed.

Yes you HAVE to make a stupid crazy face pic when you meet with Mattias, it’s mandatory so here you go :
During the MusikMesse 2013 I had the opportunity to meet Ola Strandberg who is the master mind and luthier behind .strandberg* guitars. The design of his guitars is pretty radical and optimized to have the best ergonomic.
Here’s the interview done in the noisy environment in front of Hall 4.0:
Here’s a special episode for you with an international conversation among guitar bloggers and podcasters from Australia, the US and France ! As a long time fan of what those guys are doing I thought it would be a good idea to setup this talk, they all agreed immediately to the project.
As I say often, there will never be too many blogs and podcasts about guitar, that’s why I am very happy to present you with an interview of Jonathan Bloomer who manages the excellent Guitarnoize I am a big fan of.
Yes, we both talk about guitars. No, we are not competitors. I think we actually complement really well each other as there are so many subjects and musicians to cover.
We all have in mind the slightly annoying synth riff of “The Final Countdown” when it comes to Europe. At least it was the case for me until I listened to their latest album called “Bag Of Bones” which allowed me to discover a powerful music.
So it was with great pleasure I interviewed John Norum, Europe‘s lead guitar player to talk about this album.
