German luthier Frank Deimel of Deimel Guitarworks (deimelguitarworks.com) is a craftsman I regularly come across at guitar shows. He was exhibiting at Guitar Show Padova 2024 with two superb guitars, a Doublestar and a Firestar. As a bonus after Frank's interview, I introduce you to these two instruments in video.
The Firestar particularly impressed me with its integrated Leslee system, which is truly amazing. This is an electronic circuit developed by Frank that provides an electronically controlled balance between the two pickups. The result is a stunning Leslie-type effect that works great in mono (as in the video) or in stereo with the right cable.
